What Is Chesterfield Pagans Lammas Camp?
Our lammas camp is a gathering of like minded spirits coming together in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside under big skies and with great scenic views of the Peak District.
Sit around our bonfire (which burns 24/7 for 3 days), join in our Lammas ceremony and handfasting rituals, drum, dance, relax and attend workshops. Browse around the stalls, make new friends and greet old ones, the time is yours to do what you will.

Workshops
Every year, we have some amazing talent come to entertain us with workshops and talks. The line up for workshops changes from year to year, but more often than not consists of:
- Morning yoga and Tai Chi exercise classes
- Drumming classes
- Talks around mediumship, spirituality and wellness
- Art and craft activities
Drumming
We love to hear the sound of drumming around the fire of an evening, and it’s a great way of all coming together as a community to socialise and dance to the beat.
We do have a 10:30pm drum curfew every night which is put in place because of the nearby farm and village.
Stalls
Every year, we set up our “Trader’s Row”. 2-3 rows of unique stalls, with stall holders offering a range of different goodies to browse through. Often many of these gifts are one of a kind and have been handcrafted by the traders themselves. Be sure to pay them a visit.
Rituals
At our camp we do ceremonial rituals as part of pagan ceremony. For those of you that aren’t pagan, these ceremonies are a very moving spiritual experience, and attendance at them during camp is entirely optional. No matter if you are practicing Pagan or not, you are welcome at our camp.
Beating The Bounds
We start camp by “Beating The Bounds”. We walk around the perimeter of camp, beating drums and chanting and asking that the Spirits of Place, ancestors, gods and goddesses protect us and keep us safe, so that we can enjoy a lovely, peaceful camp.
Opening Ceremony & Fire Lighting
On the first evening of camp, shortly after the Beating The Bounds, we have a short opening ceremony and light our ritual fire – which will keep everyone nice and warm, especially during the evenings and nighttime out on the Peak District hillside.
Saturday Lammas Ritual
On Saturday evening, we hold a Lammas ritual – we present offerings, read The Quarters, and share food and drink (libations).
Handfastings
We host 1-2 handfastings (Pagan Weddings) at camp each year. It’s the best time of the year to come together and celebrate, due to the community spirit and the Summer weather. We encourage you to come and be a witness to these ceremonies and celebrate with couples as they enjoy their special day.
Closing Ceremony
On the final day of camp, we hold a short closing ceremony to thank the gods, goddesses, ancestors and spirits of place for providing us with the means to enjoy a truly great camp. We appreciate for many of you, you may be on the go or packing up to leave camp – but please join us if you can.
Dancing & Music
We encourage you to dance and have a good time, especially around the fire of an evening.
We often have music events at camp such as bards and folk music. Stay tuned to our Facebook page for information on the coming years’ music events.
Welcome & Info Tent
The Welcome tent is usually at the front entrance to camp on the field. It’s where you collect wristbands as you travel in, and you can visit us as it’s manned by crew from early morning to late evening every day of camp.
Amenities
Toilets
On camp, we provide toilets in the form of Portlaloos, drop loos (using organic matter to dispose of waste) and a natural gents urinal. Please do your utmost to keep these clean and tidy for all visitors to enjoy.
Water
Drinking water is accessible through taps which are sign posted as drinking water, with 1 tap that is for sanitary purposes.
On Site Catering
We are very grateful to be joined by on site caterers who provide us with hot and cold snacks and beverages throughout the 3 day event.
